Mental Depression- Treatment

Mental Depression- Treatment:

A significant progress has been made during the last decade of twentieth century regarding the treatment of depression.

Drug Treatment:

Drugs have been used to treat depressive disorders for over three decades, with considerable effectiveness. Various studies suggest that 60-70 % of depressed adults are helped by antidepressant medications. Typically, antidepressants bring about various therapeutic effects like brightening mood, improved sleep and increased energy level. A Final Say- Why depressed? Say Cheese!

Life is like a cricket match. You are there on the pitch with a bat in hand. Stadium full on! But the game is a bit different. There don’t lie a wicket, nor a fielder who could take you a catch. Just a ball comes out of the darkness and you have to make a strike. This ball is just like an opportunity. If you make a strike, you won that opportunity, if not, it’s missed! No worries! Another ball comes and again another one innumerable times. What if this opportunity is missed! Of course life gives another ball with different pace and so on. Its only you who could make yourself out of this game. Don’t decide to quit. Play it…..enjoy it. Wont this life become monotonous and boring without problems. Challenge them….face them….enjoy them. When the UMPIRE declares the inning…….look back and say……wao!…..what a life I have lived. Remember the so many obstacles you faced but still never left the game, rather enjoyed them.

Feel proud…..

enjoy loud !

Love yourself…

Live life….!

Meditation

Meditation is a learned technique for refocusing attention that brings about an altered state of consciousness. In this state, awareness and contact with the external world are reduced.

There are many types of meditation, each with its own specific techniques for generating that altered state.

In Zen , for instance, individuals first learn to perform acts that focus their attention inward, such as counting their own breaths. Later they sit in specific positions and consider a riddle or thought provoking questions. Through such procedures, individuals remove themselves from normal rational patterns of thought and enter the altered state of consciousness.

Another form of meditation which has attained immense popularity is Transcendental . Practitioners of this type of meditation repeat a word or set of words, known as Mantra, over and over, focusing their attention entirely on this activity rather than on the world around them. If they found their thoughts beginning to wander, they attempt to bring them back to the mantra. This requires considerable cognitive discipline, but this skill must be learned if one has to successfully practice transcendental meditation.

Regardless of the nature of the particular initial stimulus, in most forms of meditation, the key to the procedure is concentrating on it so thoroughly that the meditator becomes unaware of any external stimulation and reaches a different state of consciousness.

Following this, people report feeling thoroughly relaxed. They sometimes related that they have gained new insight into themselves and the problems they are facing. The long term practice of this may even improve health.

Meditation brings about severe physiological changes. For example, oxygen usages decreases, heart rate and blood pressure declines and brain wave pattern changes. However similar changes occur during relaxation of any sort. So, whether these changes qualify as indications of trues alteration in consciousness remains an open question.
