What is Adultery? How it affects our Life!

The term adultery refers to a voluntary extramarital sexual intercourse between two persons who are not married to each other. It may either take place between a married man and someone else’s wife or between a married woman and someone else’s husband, with mutual consents between the two. Whatever the case be, it is considered as a sin and a crime in the eyes the society, God and law. Socially, adultery is regarded as wrong. Even the Holy Bible considers adultery to be a great sin in the eyes of the Holy God because marriage is considered as a commitment of two souls and hearts.

The act of Adultery!

The act of adultery involves two people out of which at least one person is already been married to somebody else. It is an act of engaging yourself with a participant who is not your spouse. A man who involves himself in the act of sexual intercourse with whom he is not married to is known as an adulterer. And a woman who involves herself in the act of sexual intercourse with a man with whom she is not married to is known as an adulteress.

Adultery is deemed to be objectionable in religious as well as moral grounds. Not only this, they are also considered offensive on the social and legal grounds. The consequences linked to adultery may vary, however, the concept of adultery remains the same in every religion, be it Islam, Christianity or Judaism. Cultures and societies regard adultery as a serious crime. As per the Bible, there exist three major types of adultery:

  • Sexual Adultery
  • Adultery without any sexual intercourse
  • Spiritual Adultery

One single act of getting involved in such sexual intercourse is enough to tag you with adultery. Furthermore, many times sexual relationships that usually last for a longer term get termed as an affair or an extramarital affair. Adultery involves getting yourself engaged in unofficial and illegal sexual intercourse that is not officially legalized. Adultery does not refer to having an intercourse with multiple partners to whom you are legally and officially married.

There may be many cases where it may be felt that it is a case of adultery, however, legally the acceptance of case under adultery while filing any divorce is much different. We may need an expert or a lawyer to understand the case separately before concluding on the outcome. Any type of sexual intercourse occurring between two persons of the same sex is not considered an act of adultery. It indicates that a homosexual couple cannot claim for a divorce quoting an adultery. Any rape that occurs with someone who has not yet reached 16 years of age is also not an act of adultery.

The real sense of Adultery

There are several definitions of adultery but often people misunderstand the real sense and real meaning of adultery. Adultery must involve a sexual intercourse to happen in between the two participants, otherwise, the act would not be counted as an adultery. Any other forms of sexual activities taking place between the two would not be considered as adultery in the eyes of the law.

It increases the number of fat cells for later storage of excess glucose. Healthy foods like quinoa, oats, rice etc. have complex carbohydrates which have more fiber and take a longer time to digest. This ultimately results in lesser cravings and decreases the will to consume again and again leading to weight loss.

  • Anti-aging

Healthy foods like olive oil and fish oils contain omega-3 fatty acids which strengthen skin membranes and help retaining moisture. Blueberries, kale, and spinach have high amounts of antioxidants which protect cell damage done by UV rays. Thus, these foods help in anti-aging.

  • Less stress

Though during stress, we always turn to our comfort food like pasta, chips and other junk they make us more lethargic and decrease our ability to stress. Research says healthier food options like high fiber, carbohydrate-rich foods release serotonin, a hormone that causes relaxation. Chronic stress leads to weakening of immune system and to overcome this, high antioxidants containing fruits and vegetables are beneficial.

  • Better sleep

Better sleep quality can be achieved by taking healthier foods and consuming less during nights. Mostly sleep disturbances and an inadequate amount of sleep is usually due to high intake of sugar, fats, high intake of caffeine before sleep because these cause neuronal disturbances and require more time to digest. Healthier options like eating less during nights, consuming lycopene, vitamin B9, calcium etc. improve sleeping patterns.

  • Better brain and heart health

Eating high-quality foods containing lots of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants nourishes the brain and protects it from oxidative stress (waste-free radicals produced by cells when they use oxygen). Unsaturated or polyunsaturated fats are a healthier option for heart and prevent coronary diseases and low sodium intake prevents the risk of developing a high blood pressure.

All these factors help in maintaining the body health perfectly and when your body functions properly you tend to be happy and radiate that happiness. This leads to clean eating, better habits, positive thinking and more importantly loving yourself. Thus, shifting to a healthy diet is a good choice and helps in making our body a better place.
