Dr. Tanu Singh is a Consultant Neuropsychiatrist based in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. An alumnus of La Martiniere Girls' College, Lucknow, she went on to acquire the MBBS degree from Kasturba Medical College (Manipal) in 2009. She then successfully completed the MD (Psychiatry) postgraduate degree programme from Bangalore Medical College. Subsequently, Dr. Tanu Singh was posted at the National Institute for Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), where she received special training in child psychiatry, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), neurology and de-addiction. Her main area of interest is the phenomenology and prevention of suicide. Dr. Tanu Singh has always attempted to make a significant impact in her profession. Her objective is to remove the stigma associated with the mental health field, with awareness creation and compassionate treatment being her two most important priorities. She has been involved in creating awareness and educating people on various mental illnesses through participation in Doordarshan TV shows, local cable TV channels, and Akashwani radio programmes. Dr. Tanu also frequently contributes articles to newspapers and magazines on issues relating to schizophrenia and depression.
