Ended up in emerg, prescribed cefuroxime IV last 5 days now on pills … high likelihood it is a tick borne illness BUT doc is treating me for lyme yet I told him where I got the bite, no rash etc and that the area also has high incidence of Anaplasmosis and Ehrlichiosis. Doxycycline can treat all three but he wants to keep me on this drug because he is so sure it must be lyme? Can I assume it is not anaplasmosis/ehrl since the cefuroxime did knock out the fever?

Lyme disease causes a rash, often in a bull’s-eye pattern, and flu-like symptoms. Joint pain and weakness in the limbs can also occur.
Most people with Lyme disease recover completely with appropriate antibiotic treatment. For those who develop syndromes after their infection is treated, pain medication may provide symptomatic relief. Your doctor must have diagnosed the condition based upon the symptoms. Please follow the prescription of your doctor.
