Yesterday my mom went to hospital with so much pain in her stomach. The doctor gave a test to check up her whole abdomen. The report states” bulky uterus with hypertrophied cervix ” .after seeing that the doctor give another test of paps smear for cytology to do. Plz tell me is it right? I am too much worried about it. Plz give me suggestions what to do….?

Bulky uterus is quiet common in elderly women. This can be corrected by anti-inflammatory medicines and hormone therapy. Surgical removal of uterus is resorted to as the last option. This is not much a serious cause of concern.
Cervical hypertrophy is often caused by some bacterial or viral infection. A Pap smear (also called a Pap test) is a screening procedure for cervical cancer. It tests for the presence of precancerous or cancerous cells on the cervix, the opening of the uterus. This is a routine test done in elderly ladies.
Need not to worry much. Wait for the test result and your doctor will start treatment thereafter depending upon the findings.
