Medical Question & AnswersCategory: Otherseye-sore-and-redness-is-it-a-sign-of-retinal-detachment
Ana Carolina asked 7 years ago

Hi. I suffered retinal detachment years ago in the left side of my left eye and had laser surgery done. Earlier today the left side of my left eye got sore (both inside and outside the eye) and red. Also it\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’s a very little itchy – more like a discomfort that makes me want to scratch it. It also hurts when I blink, the pain seems to be spreading to the rest of the left side of my face and I also have an increasing headache. It\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’s rare but somedays I see flashing lights again at the left side of my left eye, where the pain and the redness currently are located. However the lights disappear quickly – it\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’s been more than two weeks I don\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’t see any. Can the pain and redness possibly be related to a new retinal detachment? If not, what do you suggest it is?

Flashing lights and the other symptoms mentioned by you indicate serious eye condition which can cause blindness and are the indicator of problem with retina. You should visit an ophthalmologist at the earliest and get your eye examined thoroughly and start the treatment.
