Zion Hospital and Research Centre is a joint venture between a group of well qualified doctors, representing the Bethel Medical Research Society, and a well known businessman and philanthropist, Mr.Yashitsungba Ao and his family. The hospital is the culmination of a long struggle by this set of dedicated people to bring in quality health care to our state. Having realized the necessity of medical professionals to work jointly in this era of specialization and super specialization, it was decided to launch a centre through which these individuals could collectively be of service to the people.

The first step towards achieving this goal was the formation of the above mentioned society in the year 1998 and its registration as an NGO. Since then, the journey hasn’t been an easy one.

The foundation stone to mark the commencement of construction works for the hospital building itself was laid in March, 2004. During the construction and commissioning of the project, many hurdles had to be overcome. In spite of all this, we have come a long way and the OPD has been operational since the 5th of December, 2005 and finally the centre was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Nagaland, Shri Neiphiu Rio on the 11th of February 2006.

The primary aim of ZHRC is to make available state-of-the-art medical equipments through which qualified professionals can deliver their competent services to the public at affordable charges. With a view to ease the financial constrains and inconveniences faced by people seeking treatment outside the state, standard health care facilities are being offered at the doorstep of the people.
